Do I need a visa to travel to Togo?
Citizens of all countries, either for tourism or business, need a visa to travel to Togo. However, citizens of ECOWAS countries don’t need a visa to travel to Togo. Also, citizens of the South African Republic and Romania are exempted from visa.

Where can I get a visa to Togo?
Travellers can apply for a visa at the Embassy of Togo in London or get it on arrival at Togolese border points and international airports.

Visa is issued on arrival by the immigration services at border points and international airports for a period of one week (7 days), at a cost of CFA 10 000 (local currency). The visa validity period may be extended at the Foreigners and Passport Service.

Do I need an appointment to apply for a visa?
* Deposit for visas every Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9.30 am to 12.30 pm
* Please join a certificate/proof of vaccination against yellow fever with your visa application
* Collection of passports with visas every Wednesdays and Fridays from 3 pm to 5 pm
Deadlines for issuing Visas – Express visas: 3 working days | Normal visas: one week.

How can I apply for a visa?
Applicants, especially those who live outside London, could send the filled application forms with the supporting documents via the post and come in person with their passport and pay in cash to collect the visa. They could also apply via a third party. The person or entity submitting and collecting the visa application on their behalf should come to our office with their ID and an authority note stating his/ her name in it.

How long does it take to process a visa application?
A standard application takes a minimum of 7 working days and an express, 3 working days from the time we receive the hard copies of the appropriate visa forms and the supporting document at the Embassy’s office, Units 3, 7 & 8 Lysander Mews, Lysander Grove, N19 3QP.

My passport is about to expire, when can I apply?
Applicants can renew their passport from six months ahead of its expiry date.

How can I apply for or renew my passport at the Embassy?
The Embassy of Togo to the United Kingdom is now well equipped for the collection of biometric data for passport establishment and renewal. Therefore, any Togolese citizen in need to renew his/her passport could attend the Embassy’s office on Wednesdays and Fridays between 10.am to 1.pm.
NB: For security purposes, a Togolese passport is always issued in Togo and no Embassy of Togo in the world issues a passport to its citizens.

Can I endorse my child(ren) on my passport?
No, you must apply for an individual passport for the child(ren).

Do I have to bring my child to the Embassy for his/her passport application?
Yes, because the Embassy needs to collect his/her biometric data.

My passport is with the Home Office, can I apply for a new one?
If your passport is still valid, you cannot. But if it has expired, you can apply for a new one as a lost passport applicant.

How long does it take to get my passport back?
It might take 2 to 3 months for it to be processed (sent to Lomé, treated, then sent back to the Embassy). The Embassy will get in touch as soon as it gets your document back for collection.

Can a third person collect my passport on my behalf?
The person collecting your visa or passport on your behalf should come to our office with an authority note stating his/ her name in it, signed by you, and have their ID.

Can I make a return journey with a travel document?

CONSULAR IDENTIFICATION CARD (Carte Consulaire d’Identité)

What is a consular identification card?
The Consular Identification Card is an identification card issued by the Togolese Government through its Embassies and consulate offices to Togolese nationals residing outside of Togo.
For example, it allows the holder to vote or travel to Togo without visa (if he or she holds a citizenship other than the Togolese). It could also be accepted for some identification purposes.

Who should apply for a consular identification card?
Any Togolese leaving in the United Kingdom, in Ireland and in Iceland, under the jurisdiction of the Embassy of Togo, must register with the Embassy and apply for a consular card. For more information, click on this link.
