Following his visit to the Korean Kitack Lim, new Secretary General of the International Maritime Organization (IMO), in London on Monday, Robert Dussey, the Togolese Minister of Foreign Affairs, stressed the necessity to adopt a charter on maritime security and safety.
The IMO, which supports Togo in the organisation of the upcoming summit of the African Union on Maritime Security in Lomé on 15 October, congratulates the Togolese President Faure Gnassingbe for this continental initiative and wishes, through its general secretary, a total success.
Togo has recently acquired a legal arsenal to protect its territorial waters as well as economic security front, especially with the Exclusive Economic Zone ( EEZ).
