The Embassy of the Republic of Togo in London has the pleasure to inform Togolese nationals in the UK that the Government of the Republic of Togo, has decided to exempt from entry or exit visa, Togolese holders of foreign passport, excluding those who have legally renounced their original Togolese nationality.
This decision is part of the « Initiatives to tap into the expertise and other resources of the Togolese Diaspora » commonly called ‘Diaspora Program’, and in response to the recommendation on visa exemption to Togolese diaspora made to the Government during the meetings of the Diaspora in Paris, Montreal and Lomé.
To enter the country, compatriots in the diaspora need to present together with their passports obtained in the host country, one of the following documents:
- A valid Togolese passport
- A valid national identity card
- Consular card duly issued by a consulate of Togo
- Or any other document that can prove their Togolese origin
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation and the Ministry of Security and Civil Protection, jointly responsible for the management of this decision, have been instructed to make arrangements to the fast implementation of these measures.
This measure was decided at the Ministers’ Council on 2nd July 2014 and took effect on the 21st July 2014.
